Egg cannon with an observer clock
The single-row design: a sticky piston pushes one observer against another.
How it works, part by part
1 · LeverMounted on the back of the sticky piston and powers it. The back is the only side of an extended piston that is a full face, so the lever stays put while the piston moves.
2 · Sticky pistonWhen powered it pushes the first observer one block forward, face to face with the second. Switched off, it pulls the observer back and the clock stops.
3 · Observers face to faceAn observer fires when the block in front of it changes, and an observer's own pulse counts as a change. Face to face, each sets the other off: a pulse every 4 ticks for as long as they touch.
4 · DispenserThe second observer's back powers it with every pulse: 5 eggs a second.
